Depending on the tavern layout, the broker might be waiting in one of the upstairs room(s). There are a fair amount of random brokers, so it shouldn’t be too hard. So if Jeremus get’s knocked out, his skill levels don’t count: a reason why backup levels (particular healing skills) on other companions aren’t necessarily a waste).įor ransom brokers, they are random with the exception of Tihr where a permanent ransom broker (Radimus?) resides, but he pays less than no name ransom brokers.

Note that only skill levels for active (non-wounded) companions count. E.g., on my current character, it lists surgery 8 and wound healing 8 under Jeremus’s name with a +1 next to surgery for having two points of surgery on my main character. Having 3 guys with 2 trainer each is not the equivalent of 6 trainer on one guy.Īs to the other party skills, your party screen will show whose skill is being used to determine your party’s skill level, and any bonus that may be applied. For trainer, it doesn’t so much stack as it does individually apply for each person with the skill.

Is there a better explanation of the skills system than the one in the manual (particularly Party skills)? I’ve been operating on the assumption that they stack if anyone among the named companions has even a point in them (like if everyone has a point in surgery or first aid), but now I’m thinking not.Īlso, whom do I have to kill to find a freaking Ransom Broker? I’ve got 7 prisoners in tow, and no one to sell them to.Īs others have said, party skills don’t stack, with the exception of trainer. I seem to have more luck finding them in the coastal Nord cities (the yellow ones), but that is totally subjective and not backed up by any data or stats. They are in taverns is as much as I can tell you.

You skip past the peasant recruit into level 1 / level 2 troops very quickly. So if you have a lot of companions with a little training it quickly makes a very large pool of XP going into low level troops. Trainer works differently - every companion with points in training gives XP to troops lower level than him or her. This still works if you have the highest skill. There is also then a small bonus for the amount of skill your actual character has. You can see who this is in the Party menu. Whoever has the highest skill, that one gets used. This one too, although the above is probably better for skills:īasically, no they don’t stack, with the exception of training. (Watch out, probably spoilers in Wiki, as much as you can actually get spoiled in this game)
